Traffic reduction at the Gardena Pass: digital test phase from 22
Traffic reduction at the Gardena Pass: digital test phase from 22 September 2026
From 22 September to 5 October 2026, a digital test phase will take place at the Gardena Pass. During this period, various digital applications and procedures will be tested under real-life conditions. The aim is to gather technical experience and create a reliable data basis for the future planning of possible measures to reduce traffic at the Gardena Pass.
Anyone travelling to or across the Gardena Pass during this period can voluntarily register their journey via the dedicated platform and complete a short questionnaire. Participation is entirely voluntary.
In addition, the Südtirol Alto Adige Rangers will carry out random surveys at the Gardena Pass. The test phase will also include trials of digital systems designed to involve selected accommodation providers and restaurants.
Important: during the test phase, no new traffic regulations or restrictions will come into force. This is purely a voluntary trial. The results will be used to assess how the digital systems work in practice and to identify any adjustments that may be required for a possible future implementation.
Voluntary registration, further information and FAQs are available at:
