A valley of health
A valley of health
Val Gardena is set to welcome tourists back on 4 June 2020. With summer just around the corner, we have implemented several measures for your safety
Preparations in Val Gardena are in full swing as it gets ready to welcome back holidaymakers. It has become a veritable organisational machine which will roll out all necessary measures to guarantee everyone’s safety: from social distancing to sanitising outdoor and indoor public spaces. Fortunately, however, the Dolomites also helps us with a lot of space: a good 7,000m² of nature are available per guest bed.

Measures for your holiday in Val Gardena
Immunity tests and epidemiological survey
Two initiatives over the last few weeks have aimed to offer further assurances for everyone’s health, and have been met by considerable national and international support. A SARS-CoV-2 immunity test took place in April: 962 people between 6 and 88 were tested and 49\% of them resulted positive. Doctor Simon Kostner, who monitored the project, says this means they should be immune to the virus. This data was then backed by two independent institutes in Innsbruck.
The data was also confirmed using an anonymous survey designed for people working in tourism. A good 2,251 people, equal to 20\% of the population, replied; based on their answers and symptoms, it is very likely 48.78\% contracted the virus. Therefore, these statistical data which back the research allow us to plausibly hypothesise that a herd immunity could exist in Val Gardena, which favours the wellbeing of our guests as well as that of the locals.
Sanitisation: our snow cannons
Val Gardena’s villages have become part of a unique project run by the famous specialised DemacLenko company, part of the Leitner Group. By using a high-performance fan gun, normally employed for snowmaking, the majority of roads have now been sanitised with a 100\% biodegradable disinfectant

Our passion and commitment know no bounds
All these measures have been put in place to safeguard our tourists’ health when visiting the valley this summer. With the season just around the corner, the Gardenesi have been hard at work all over the area. The paths have been cleared, the window boxes are in full bloom, and the mountain huts, hotels, restaurants, and shops are ready to welcome everyone who loves our valley, looking for a bit of peace and calm during the summer away from the city’s hubbub.
The entire community is working hard to ensure the best possible holiday experience. We are raring to go… so much so that a campaign has been launched to express our feelings: #RestartSuedtirolNOW
Further initiatives will soon be announced. This work in progress will see us publishing succinct accounts of unique measures, in part exclusive to Val Gardena, to keep you posted about our summer offers which are all about your health and safety. Welcome back to the heart of the Dolomites: it is time to enjoy your relaxing summer.
Lots of space: A good 7,000m² of nature are available per guest bed.

Such facilities must carry out daily laser temperature tests and certified rapid antibody tests for their employees and provide every guest with a certified negative antibody test that is no older than four days. We will let you know about any developments on the tests and processes through our usual information channels.
All beauticians in our beauty spa area wear protective masks when administering treatments. Their clients must wear a face mask, too. All employees undergo a daily laser temperature test. Before the start of the treatments, the client’s temperature is taken, too.
Some accommodation providers may offer child care options. Groups of children under the age of six are limited to four children. Groups of children over the age of six are limited to six children. Activities take place outdoors and within the village in which the accommodation is located. Excursions take place near the accommodation and do not involve any journeys on public transport.
