Passo Gardena

In september I am going for a motorbike trip in the dolomites.
I stay 1 night in Colfosco. Is it possible the ride over the Passo Gardena on the day of arrival and the day of departure ?

Answers: 1Yes, in principle. Colfosco is on the Alta Badia side of Passo Gardena, so you can cross the pass when arriving from Val Gardena and ride back over it on departure. If you approach Colfosco from Brunico or Cortina instead, you would need to make Passo Gardena an out-and-back ride or include it in a loop.

For September 2026, however, check carefully before travelling. A pilot restriction on through traffic, including motorcycles, is planned from 1 September. Overnight guests are expected to receive an exemption, but the final access and permit arrangements have not yet been clearly published. Ask your accommodation in Colfosco whether your hotel reservation provides access on both days.

Also note that on 12 September 2026, Passo Gardena and the other Sellaronda passes will be closed to motorised traffic from approximately 08:30/09:00 until 16:00 for the Sellaronda Bike Day.
